It was coaching their kid’s baseball team where Bloomington restaurateur Abe Carney and his business partner John Moore first started discussing the need for a locally dedicated gluten-free restaurant. Motivated to create a place for their many Bloomington friends and family dealing with gluten restricted diets, they reached out to John’s brother, Thomas Moore and his wife Elissa McKee, who founded 1823 Bakehouse, an award-winning gluten-free restaurant in Franklin, Indiana. The result of their collective hard work is Brightside Café, a Bloomington-based 100% gluten-free restaurant.
The Brightside ownership team consists of Bloomington locals Abe Carney and John Moore, and investors/restaurateurs Elissa McKee and Thomas Moore.
